Contemporary Craft and Pittsburgh Glass Center are supporting the brand-new Modern Craft Market, hosted by Handmade Arcade. In its very first year, Modern Craft Market is a juried shopping event celebrating where traditional craftsmanship meets cutting-edge design. This new market will connect shoppers, craft collectors, and retail and industry partners with some of the best contemporary craft makers and artists from around the country.
The inaugural 2026 Modern Craft Market will feature over 100 makers and artists. Each maker will sell contemporary handcrafted goods spanning a wide variety of artistic categories, including furniture, glass, basketry, ceramics, wearable and decorative fiber and textiles, jewelry, metal, and more.
Let this funny, razor sharp show-within-a-show transport you backstage where nerves are frayed, passions run hot, and the lunacy of the creative process shines brighter than a Klieg light. It’s not a farce this fictional theater company is making, but something (dare we say) Quantum would tackle—complex, intimate, theatrical, and perhaps flawed—and you’ll be part of all the whispered conversations, potential meltdowns, and last-minute decisions. You’ll wear a headset, that one-earpiece staple of Stage Managers everywhere, so you can listen in on the folks in the booth, as well as the actors onstage, all working 10 (hours) Out of 12.
Resident choreographer Madeline Kendall Schreiber presents a new neoclassical work, Architecture of the Soul, set to Dance, the five-movement cello concerto by contemporary composer Anna Clyne.
Guest choreographer and former Texture resident dancer Alexandra Tiso presents Woman, a powerful work inspired by the resilience and strength of women.
The program is completed by Moment of Impact, a new contemporary work from Artistic Director Alan Obuzor, which highlights Texture’s commitment to sharing physically dynamic and emotionally complex dance.
This all too timely, bitingly funny comedy takes place during several board meetings at an ultra-progressive California school proud of its inclusivity and commitment to consensus – at least until a mumps outbreak reveals varying views (like, everyone’s) on vaccination. In “one of the funniest plays to open [all] year” (The New York Times) parents dance the line of advocating for their children while trying not to offend...anyone.
