I've done a number of music festivals, but this particular one is like a fellowship program, which is really nice. Unlike a lot of the other formats of orchestral music festivals, this one prioritizes getting as much repertoire in as possible. I think we're performing seventeen or eighteen concerts of different repertoire, so it's often two days of rehearsal and then the concert. Most other festivals are going to be the same amount of time, but you're not necessarily going to be playing at the rate that you would be in a professional orchestra. As a result of that, once you start playing with a professional orchestra, it might catch you a little off guard how little rehearsal time you have for a concert. There are a lot of concerts for PSO that I've done one rehearsal the day of the concert and then the concert in the evening. You have to be completely on top of everything. I think the PSO, Paul J. Ross Fellowship, and other fellowships benefit musicians who are on the cusp of going professional. It is beneficial for showing you what it's like in the real world. As a musician, in a top orchestra, you are not going to have a lot of prep time. That's just something you have to experience. The only way you're ever going to learn how to do it is to experience it.
